Woman avoids jail for New Year’s party attack

A WOMAN has avoided being sent to prison for her role in a brutal assault on a man at a drunken New Year’s party.

Lee Greens, 32, and her husband Richard, 35, attacked Garry Campbell at a relative’s house in Penicuik, Midlothian, in January this year.

The pair pounced on Mr Campbell after a drunken misunderstanding.

Richard, a father of five, threw him down concrete stairs and allowed Mr Campbell to lie on the ground screaming and bleeding with the bone from his shin sticking through his skin.

Lee then grabbed the injured man’s leg, shook it around and accused him of being a drama queen.

Richard, of Penicuik, Midlothian, was jailed for 11-and-a- half months for assault during a hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month.

Sentence on Lee had been deferred in order for Sheriff William Holligan to decide what punishment to impose on the mum.

Yesterday, Sheriff Holligan decided to sentenced the drug addict to an 18-month long drug treatment and testing order.

The Greens both pleaded guilty to assault charges at a hearing earlier this year.

Pasing sentence, Sheriff Holligan warned Greens that she would be sent to prison if she did not comply with the terms of the order.
