Woman attacked for remark about partner’s genitals

A YOUNG woman who was the victim of a sustained brutal attack by her partner after making a comment about the size of his genitals jumped out of a window and ran screaming for help through the back gardens of a residential development.

Police found Lucy Hill in a dishevelled state after neighbours raised the alarm. She suffered 37 separate injuries when treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the assault by Conor Quinn, 22.

Quinn of Hawk Crescent, Dalkeith, had pled guilty previously to assaulting Miss Hill in his home on 28 April last year.

He was placed on a 15 month community payback order and ordered to pay his victim £1,000 compensation. Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard Quinn returned home in a drunken state and the couple began arguing.

Fiscal Depute Ann McNeill, said Miss Hill “made some reference to his (Quinn) having a smaller private part than her former partner”.

Quinn then dragged her into a bedroom, told her he was going to kill her, had compressed her throat, pulled her hair, punched her on the legs and body, bit her on the arm and waist and punched and kicked her on the head and face, the court heard.

Quinn’s defence solicitor, Paul Cannavan, told Sheriff Frank Crowe that his client had no previous convictions. But the sheriff responded: “It’s far more serious than most of the domestic abuse cases we see”.
