Witness call after con job

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a distraction theft in Midlothian.

The incident happened around 8.45am on Monday in Main Street, Newtongrange.

A 59-year-old man had just left the Co-Op store and as he crossed the road a man approached and engaged him in conversation.

During this time the suspect then stole various cards from the man’s jacket.

The suspect is described as white, late 20s-early 30s with a clean-shaven complexion. He was wearing a hooded top, thick black jacket and spoke with a local accent.
