Wind farm ‘view’ fears

PLANNING chiefs are to formally lodge objections to the development of a £100 million wind farm in West Lothian over concerns it would affect views from the Pentland Hills Regional Park.

The 23-turbine project at Fauch Hill, eight kilometres south-west of West Calder, could power Livingston and deliver 60 jobs, but city planning chiefs, backed by councillors, will lodge objections with the Scottish Government.

As the Evening News revealed earlier this month, planners have already objected to a separate £70m wind farm at nearby Harburnhead Hill.

John Bury, head of the city council’s planning department, said the Fauch Hill scheme would be visible from the Pentlands.
