Wild haggis feature in junior Bafta fight

Scottish pupils have reached the final of the junior version of the Baftas, thanks to a bloodthirsty haggis.

The youngsters from Larbert High, Stirlingshire, saw off competition from around Britain in the computer-games concept category for 11-to 16-year-olds.

Their entry, dubbed the Hagopocalypse, features a solitary Highlander fending off attacks from wild haggis with only his magic bagpipes.

Computing science teacher Stuart Baird, who helped with the entry, said it combined “both art and algorithms”.

Headteacher Jon Reid said: “I am absolutely delighted our pupils have made it through to such prestigious finals.”

One of the pupils, Adam Robertson, said: “It really made us think outside the box.”

The pupils will travel to London for the finals of the Bafta Young Game Designer awards, being held on Sunday.
