Wheels seem to have come off Markus’s bike trip

A MAN who managed to cycle from Edinburgh to his hometown in Germany has come unstuck – on a popular Scottish tourist trail.

Markus Stitz, 32, who lives in Broughton, famously pedalled the 1000-miles from the Capital to the Thuringia region in time for Christmas last year, and managed to carry a haggis the entire way.

However, his latest challenge has not gone so smoothly. He is currently attempting to complete the West Highland Way, but told the Evening News he was considering abandoning the bid.

He said: “I must admit, I haven’t reached agreement with myself if it is a bad thing to stop before the finish.”
