• Expending energy and taxpayers' money on a National Conversation, principally about Scotland seceding from the United Kingdom.

• Cancelling the Edinburgh and Glasgow airport rail links.

• Refusing to allow the private sector to deliver some public services in partnership with government.

• Refusing to use Public Private Partnerships to fund additional vital infrastructure projects that would benefit Scotland's economy.

• Disallowing the building of new nuclear power plants, thus putting at risk a balanced and secure future for energy generation.

• Discriminating against successful larger retailers by hitting them with higher business rates, therefore risking increased prices for consumers, fewer jobs and less investment.

• Deferring tough but necessary action on public service reform.

• Refusing to use a different funding model for Scottish Water that would free up the existing subsidy for new investment.
