Yellow weather warning issued for snow across Borders and Central Scotland

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Central Scotland and the Scottish Borders for snow.

Much of the country will be affected by the yellow weather warning as temperatures remain cold.

Areas which the Met Office have identified as affected by the weather warning include Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Highlands, Dumfries and Galloway, Scottish Borders, Argyll and Bute, East Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire.

The warning is in place from 11am on Tuesday January 26 and is expected to last until 11:59pm.

The Met Office advised that hill snow in the areas may lead to some travel disruption, with the most prolonged hill snow coming north of the Central Belt in Scotland.

Those living in the areas can expect some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

There are no weather warnings in place for the remainder of the week.
