Weather warnings in place as Scotland faces a day of wind and heavy rain

Scotland faces a very wet and windy day on Thursday, with two yellow weather warnings in place.

Some areas of the country will see a bright start to the day, but from 9am much of the west coast will be drenched in heavy rain.

As the day progresses, that rain will spread to most parts of the country.

The downpours are due to impact Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and Renfrewshire.

Highlands and Eilean Siar, South West Scotland and Lothian & Borders will also be affected by the bout of extreme weather.

It will be quite mild, however, with temperatures of 11 in the north and 14-15 elsewhere.
