Met Office issues yellow warning for rain and localised flooding across parts of Scotland

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Scotland including Edinburgh and the Lothians and the North East, with warnings of heavy rain and localised flooding.

The yellow warning impacting the North East includes Aberdeen, Inverness and Thurso, and comes into effect at 6pm today, lasting over 24 hours until 9pm tomorrow, Tuesday.

The weather warning in the Lothians comes into effect today at 6pm and will last until tomorrow at 6am, with stormy weather and flooding likely.

The Met Office said on their website: “An area of persistent and heavy rain will spread in from the east on Monday evening, lasting much of the night before clearing

to scattered showers by morning.

"20-30mm will fall quite widely across the area with some hills possibly catching 40mm or more before it clears. With the ground already saturated this likely to lead to flooding in a few areas.”
