Met Office spokeswoman Nicola Maxey said temperatures will stay below 15C in the capital today but this should rise slightly by tomorrow afternoon.
She said: "Tomorrow will be much better with plenty of sunshine for most of the day. Temperatures will be around 15-16C and it will certainly feel better with the sunshine."
More cloud is forecast on Wednesday and there could also be some showers arriving by Thursday afternoon. The weekend is predicted to be similarly cloudy but temperatures should rise to 18C on Sunday.
Ms Maxey said the weather will likely stay warm for the next two weeks but warned of more rain.
She added: "For the rest of the month we are certainly looking at fairly uncertain weather. Southern and Western parts of the UK will be sunnier but further north, and for Edinburgh, there is more chance we will continue to see this changeable pattern, with patchy sunshine and some spells of rain. It looks like this pattern will continue into the middle of the month."
