Pictures taken by colleagues and residents show what a real pea-souper of a night it was on Monday evening as thick clouds cloaked Edinburgh’s streets.
Some of the Capital’s iconic sites took on an even more dramatic demeanour than they already have as the thick mist circulated around them including Scott Monument, Edinburgh Castle and some of the city’s famed streets.

It didn't matter what turn you took in the city on Monday night, the entire place was trapped in the impenetrable fog for the evening. Here is a picture of the Grassmarket in Edinburgh.
