Dramatic pictures show Edinburgh and its iconic sites shrouded in thick fog

The Capital took up the haunting mantle of a horror film scene as the city was hidden by impenetrable fog after sunset.

Pictures taken by colleagues and residents show what a real pea-souper of a night it was on Monday evening as thick clouds cloaked Edinburgh’s streets.

Some of the Capital’s iconic sites took on an even more dramatic demeanour than they already have as the thick mist circulated around them including Scott Monument, Edinburgh Castle and some of the city’s famed streets.
