Celtic one win from title as Aberdeen held

Celtic will be crowned Scottish champions this evening if they defeat Partick Thistle at Firhill, following Aberdeen failure to beat Ross County in Dingwall last night.

The Dons, the only team who could have caught Celtic, scored late on through Adam Rooney to earn a 1-1 draw after Melvin 
De Leeuw had given County a first-half lead.

County manager Derek Adams praised his side. “I thought we were excellent from start to finish,” he said. “We passed the ball very well and caused Aberdeen a lot of problems. We had a lot of one-on-ones with Jamie Langfield in the game – three or four – so it was a terrific performance from us.”

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes said: “Both teams possibly had a case for saying they could have won the game. I felt we let our standards drop for a 20-minute period in the first half, having started well.”

The draw keeps Aberdeen one point ahead of Motherwell in second place.
