Waverley cruise ends in violence on the Clyde

A PLEASURE cruise on the Clyde ended in mayhem as dozens of men fought with bottles on the paddle steamer Waverley.

Police were called by passengers who were caught up in the violence just as the boat returned to Glasgow on Saturday night. It had been booked for a musical evening cruise to Greenock.

Officers from Strathclyde Police attended after the Waverley had docked but by then many of those involved had gone. A police spokeswoman said there were no arrests.

Organiser Andy Raeside, who runs club nights under the name On The House, said he was disgusted by the behaviour of some of the passengers.
