Warnings South Queensferry sea wall at risk of collapsing

A SECTION of sea wall at South Queensferry could be at risk of "sudden and catastrophic" collapse unless measures are taken to strengthen it.

Plans have been lodged to construct a new wall immediately in front of the existing wall to halt further deterioration.

Charles Laird, consulting engineer at Buchanan Laird, said: "At this time it is impossible to assess how much longer the wall will remain intact. The current stability of the upper section of the wall is uncertain and it is anticipated that any deterioration in the condition of the wall may be sudden if no remedial measures are undertaken."

Councillors are due to make a decision on the proposal in June.
