Warning after bogus workmen steal from elderly woman

BOGUS workmen stole cash from an elderly woman at her home in the Capital.

The incident happened around 2:05pm yesterday in Glen Street.

The 84-year-old had returned home when two men claiming to be fixing a water problem followed her inside.

The men spent some time in the property, visiting a number of rooms before leaving.

The woman later discovered that a sum of money was missing and alerted police.

The first suspect is described as white, between 35 and 40-years-old, 6ft tall with an average build and short brown hair. He was wearing grey trousers.

The second suspect is described as white, between 35 and 40-years-old, 5ft to 5ft 5ins tall.

Police are now appealing for anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "These men have targeted an elderly woman and made off with her money after gaining access to her home.

"Anyone who was on Glen Street around 2:05pm yesterday and saw anything suspicious or who can help us locate the suspects is asked to contact police immediately."
