The advert on the monarchy’s website adds the job is about “feeling house-proud about the world’s most famous homes.

“It’s being encouraged to gain new skills. And it’s delivering extraordinary service in incredible surroundings. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

“You’ll work in all areas of the Palace, including the public visitor route, staff offices and State rooms, ensuring that they’re presented to their best for colleagues, visitors and, of course, the Royal Family.

“Aiming for the highest standards, you’ll clean and care for interiors and items, from rest rooms, carpets and furniture, to historic vases and irreplaceable paintings.

“On occasion, you’ll even take care of guests and support special events too.

“Housekeeping or hospitality experience would be an asset, but is by no means essential. We’re more interested in your outstanding team working skills.

“It’s a busy environment, but with good time management skills, you’ll work with your team to get everything done to deadline.

“This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and passion to deliver the exceptional.”

The closing date for applications is January 30.
