Voting system ‘on the mend’

HOLYROOD bosses said today they were confident the Scottish Parliament’s new £280,000 electronic voting system would be working again by tomorrow after it crashed last week, forcing the cancellation of one debate and delaying the results of two others.

A spokesman said contractors had been called in, adding: “We are confident business will go ahead as normal on Wednesday and Thursday.”

The new touchscreen system was fitted during the summer recess after the previous consoles and microphones reached the end of their useful life.
