Voters back pardon for Billy the Kid

A MAJORITY of voters in New Mexico say they favour a posthumous pardon for Billy the Kid after governor Bill Richardson set up a website to gauge public opinion.

The website was created after it was revealed the outlaw, who died in 1881 aged 22, had been promised one in return for his testimony in a murder case against three men.
