Volunteers put some colour into market

BROOMHOUSE Market has been given a colourful makeover after dozens of volunteers picked up a paintbrush.

A project run by paint firm Dulux saw the helpers equipped with everything they needed to transform the run-down stalls.

They were provided with more than 250 litres of paint to overhaul the market after it was nominated as part of Dulux’s Let’s Colour scheme by Lucy Aitchison, project co-ordinator of Broomhouse Health Strategy Group.

She said: “We’re very proud to have been chosen as one of the first Let’s Colour UK projects.

“The transformation has not only brightened up Broomhouse Market, but has had a positive impact on the local community, lifting the spirits of anyone passing through the market, giving a sense of pride and positive self-esteem.”

Letty Edwards, marketing director of Dulux, said: “We’re proud to have been able to help make a real difference.”
