Video: Arbroath woman makes leap year proposal at London station

LEAP years are customarily when women propose to men - and Nicole Ross did just that on the concourse of a busy London station.

Ms Ross, from Arbroath, surprised her partner of three years Craig Mackay, 31, in front of hundreds of commuters this morning at at Marylebone station.

The proposal, would took months of meticulous planning, included a flash mob choir, a tannoy announcement and even the words ‘Will you marry me Craig?’ appearing on the arrivals and departures board as Ross got down on one knee.

Heading off a busy day of sightseeing, the couple stopped to watch a busker singing their favourite song, Happy by Pharrell Williams.

One-by-one a congregation of ‘spectators’, including station staff, joined in before 27-year-old Ross got down on one knee to reveal an engagement ring.

Ross said: “I’ve always been one for big romantic gestures and seeing as it’s a leap year I thought why not take the next step in our relationship and do it in a way that we will both remember for the rest of our lives.”

According to an age-old custom, February 29th is the one day when woman can propose to men.
