Veterans charity gets £80k boost

A VETERANS’ charity based in the Capital is to benefit from an £80,000 grant towards specialist care services.

The donation will help Erskine, which has a home in
Gilmerton, continue to deliver residential, respite and specialist dementia nursing care for Royal Air Force veterans.

Since 1997, the RAF has contributed funding of more than £2 million towards various Capital projects and the specialist care of RAF veterans with Erskine.

The charity, which was set up in 1916, provides services including physiotherapy care, speech and language therapy and dedicated recreational activities.

Lieutenant-Colonel Steve Conway, chief executive of Erskine, said: “Without their [the RAF] support and commitment to the care of RAF veterans, we would not be able to provide the specialist services that these men and women need.”
