Vet school ignores protests
with welcome for princess

A REVAMPED vet practice for farm animals at Edinburgh University has been officially opened by the Princess Royal.

Anne toured the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, where she met students despite a motion passed earlier this week by the students’ association calling for her to stand down as the university’s chancellor.

She was shown around a new lecture room, a meeting room, reception area, laboratory and pharmacy.

Anne also visited the Roslin Institute, which is next to the vet school at the Easter Bush campus in Midlothian.

Today she is due to open a plant at the Belhaven Brewery – which makes St Andrews Ale, Scottish Stout, Twisted Thistle, Wee Heavy and 80 Shilling – in Dunbar, East Lothian.

Professor David Argyle, of the vet school, said: “We are delighted that the princess has visited.”
