US driver stopped by police claimed he was king of Scotland

A COLORADO man reportedly told police he was the king of Scotland and had diplomatic immunity after he was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Nicholas Baron James, 35, was stopped in Longmont after officers spotted him weaving in and out of lanes on Main Street last week.

James reportedly carried on for nearly a mile before eventually pulling over, police said.

The police report says that a seemingly intoxicated James told officers he was the king of Scotland, and insisted that he had ‘golden blood’, refusing a blood test in the process, according to the Longmont Times-Call newspaper.

A search of the car turned up a large knife, and a prescription painkiller tablet on the floor of the car.

James also demanded that officers contact the US Department of State to confirm his apparent diplomatic immunity.

However, James was later taken to Boulder County Jail and faces charges including driving under the influence and possession of drug.
