Union alert over appeals

COUNCIL workers in the Capital have been warned that they have less than a fortnight left to lodge appeals against the recent pay shake-up.

The trade union Unison is organising appeals against the modernising pay reform introduced earlier this year. And it is urging members to get their appeals submitted by their final deadline of December 17.

Kevin Duguid, the lead negotiator, said: "We will monitor the effectiveness of the process and reserve the right to withdraw from it should it be proven to be just a paper exercise."
