Uni honours Festival chief

THE director of the Edinburgh International Festival is being presented with an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.

Professor Jonathan Mills will receive the honour at a ceremony later this afternoon.

The university is awarding Prof Mills, who is also an award-winning composer, the degree for his significant contribution to arts and culture.

Prof Mills was appointed Festival director in 2006 and was awarded the Australian Centenary medal in 2002 and the Prix Italia in 2005.
