POLICE last night named a man they discovered stabbed to death during a burglary call-out as Joseph Lewis Griffiths.

The 73-year-old’s body was found at his home on Hazlebury Road in Fulham, south-west London, on Saturday at 6:20am.

London Ambulance Service attended and Mr Griffiths was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Metropolitan Police detectives are working on the basis he might have disturbed an intruder. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “While we await formal identification we are confident the deceased is Joseph Lewis Griffiths. Mr Griffiths was a married man with two grown-up sons.”

Police said other people were inside the house when they arrived but none were injured.

A post-mortem examination took place at Fulham Mortuary yesterday with stab wounds given as cause of death.
