More Northern Ireland police officers are needed to deal with the pressure the force faces, the chief constable of the service has said.

PSNI staff undertaking normal policing duties have been “stripped out” to attend loyalist flag protests, Matt Baggott said. Petrol bombs and other missiles were hurled at police by angry crowds during recent sporadic violence, leaving 129 officers injured.
