THE report analyses the Sun’s decision to publish its story that former prime minister Gordon Brown’s son was suffering from cystic fibrosis.

The inquiry heard how the newspaper’s former editor, Rebekah Brooks, claimed the couple were “absolutely committed to making this public”.

The report declares this account “frankly defies belief: one hardly needs Mr Brown himself to point out that no parent in the land would have wanted information of this nature to be blazoned across the front page of a national newspaper”.
