France’s First Lady sues Closer magazine

The gossip magazine that published the photos of the Duchess of Cambridge is also being sued by France’s First Lady for printing pictures of her in a bikini.

Valerie Trierweiler, 47, is demanding £20,000 in damages from Closer for invading her privacy during her holiday.

The president’s partner has
already been awarded £1,500 after the highly unflattering snaps appeared in glossy French magazine VSD.

Closer has branded the First Lady’s demand for compensation “the height of hypocrisy”.

Editor Laurence Pieau has issued a full-page statement attack­ing Ms Trierweiler - published on the page after its
photos of Kate.
