Leading cruise lines are slashing prices in a bid to entice Britons to book holidays afloat, a new report has revealed.

The campaign, aimed at boosting sales, comes after a disappointing January for the industry, according to trade journal Travel Weekly.

It reports that a series of agents and third parties, including, Cruise 1st and Travelzoo, have issued e-alerts claiming prices have been “slashed”.

Operators had hoped to increase prices this year during the key early year wave booking period but Travel Weekly says it understands business has been slower than hoped.
