The Prince of Wales is to warn that Britain is in danger of relinquishing its world-class reputation as the “standard bearer of quality manufacturing and engineering” if more young people are not attracted into the industries.

Charles will deliver his speech during a visit to the Jaguar Land Rover production plant at Halewood on Merseyside.

The Prince will say: “We are rightly proud of our industrial heritage, but we should also celebrate our continued success as the standard bearer of quality manufacturing and engineering throughout the world.”

However, he will stress that this reputation is at stake if the sectors do not attract more young talent.
