THE first British victim of the Algerian hostage crisis to be officially identified has been described as a “true gentleman” who “loved life and lived it to the full”.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, tributes to Paul Thomas Morgan, 46, were paid by his partner Emma Steele, 36, and mother Marianne, 65, on behalf of his family.

They said: “Paul was a true gentleman, a family man, he very much loved his partner Emma, his mum, brothers and sister, of whom he was very proud.

“He loved life and lived it to the full. He died doing the job he loved. We are so proud of him and what he achieved. We are devastated by Paul’s death.”

There was no immediate confirmation of where Mr Morgan was from.
