An Asda shopper has been banned from every store in the UK after arguing about the price of fabric conditioner.

Mulkh Chumber Mulkh Chumber, from Wolstanton in Staffordshire, went to his local branch to buy 10 bottles of Comfort Creations after finding a money saving offer in The Sun. Mr Chumber, 53, a newsagent, believed the price of the washing item had been reduced from £3 to £1.

But when he got to the checkout, he was told the advert was wrong, and the fabric conditioner would set him back £2 per bottle.

“I went to the customer service desk and told one of the workers about this issue and was told they were £2,” he told the Stoke Sentinel. “I showed her the advert, which stated they were £1, and she said it was subject to availability, even though the shelves were full.

“Then I was told it was selected stores only. But they could not tell me where the offer was available and I was told I would have to put them back.”

Mr Chumber said he didn’t want to waste his time putting the products back on shelves, after which Asda staff called security and told him the police would be called if he didn’t leave.

“I did not leave, the police arrived and I spent half-an-hour with the police explaining the situation,” he added.

Mr Chumber said he used to visit Asda three or four times a week and said he thinks if something is advertised at a certain price, the company should uphold it.

He has since shifted his allegiance to Morrisons.

Police confirmed to the Sentinel that officers were called to Wolstanton Retail Park at 11.55am on 15 June.

A spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a man being abusive to staff. The man, in his 50s, was spoken to by officers at the supermarket.” No charges were brought. Asda has said Mr Chumber’s ban will remain in place. A spokesman said the store would have honoured the deal had the customer not been “abusive” to staff.
