Yellow weather warning for rain issued in parts of Scotland

A weather warning has been issued for heavy rainfall, which is expected to affect parts of the country.

The yellow warning is in place until 9am on Tuesday, October 20.

The areas affected on Monday morning are Argyll, Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, Lochaber and through the Forth Valley towards Fife.

Weather experts at the Met Office said Scotland will see some heavy rain today, bringing some challenging travelling conditions.

Spells of rain, heavy at times, will persist through Monday before clearing on Tuesday morning.

Motorists are advised to take care when travelling.

CalMac Ferries said a one vessel service will be operating due to the weather. The vessel will depart Gourock at 20 past the hour and depart Dunoon and 10 to the hour.

As a precaution, the A83 Rest and Be Thankful in Argyll was closed from 6pm on Sunday. A diversion on the Old Military Road is being used.
