Woman seriously hurt in Kirkcaldy 'firearms' incident

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a possible shooting outside a Fife pub.

Police were called to reports of an injured woman outside Novar Bar following a disturbance believed to have involved a firearm.The 47-year-old woman was found opposite the pub on Nicol Street, Kircaldy, at approximately 2pm on Sunday and taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment, where she remains in a stable condition.An investigation has been launched into the incident and Police Scotland revealed that three people have been arrested in connection with the suspected disturbance.A statement from the force said: "We are aware of reports a firearm was involved and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."We would like to reassure the public this is an isolated incident."Three people have been arrested and our inquiries continue."Novar Bar's Facebook account posted an update to announce that it had been ordered to remain shut, but that the incident did not involve any of its customers.The post read: "Unfortunately the police have asked us to close the bar due to a police incident across the road from the Novar Bar."The incident did not take place in the bar and did not relate to any of our customers."We apologise for the short notice."
