Weather: No white Christmas for the UK

It will not be a white Christmas anywhere in the UK, forecasters have said.

Not even mountain peaks will see snowfall tomorrow, in a stark contrast to last year’s festive period, which saw record snowfall.

Christmas Day is expected to be wet and windy across much of Scotland, with gale-force gusts and temperatures of up to 14C in eastern areas such as Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

Yellow – “be aware” – severe weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office for heavy rain and flooding across western Scotland north of Glasgow on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
