US date for man on charity hike

A MAN who gave up his job and home on his 30th birthday to embark on a charity walk covering the length of Britain has been invited to the American Embassy to talk about his quest.

Matt Wallace left behind his family, friends and flat to start the project, during which he will visit 16 of Cancer Research UK’s centres.

After writing a jovial letter to president Barack Obama about his walk, US representatives in London invited him for afternoon tea next Friday.

With just a rucksack and pop-up tent, he set off from John o’ Groats in September and aims to reach Land’s End in March.
