UK Uncut plan Olympic themed protests

Direct action group UK Uncut is to stage a series of street parties “with a twist” in the run-up to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics, including plans to block roads.

Events will be held across the country, protesting against government spending cuts to public services.

UK Uncut said it wanted to highlight cuts to services which were being set up the last time the Olympics were held in London, in 1948.

Rachel Woodhead, a supporter of UK Uncut, said: “We are paying the price for the banks’ greed and recklessness. The government lets big business dodge tax and slashes tax rates for the wealthy. We can fight, taking our future out of the hands of a tiny group of millionaires to instead create a future which benefits everyone.”
