The social networking site was forced to apologise after a “human error” allowed a six-second x-rated clip to feature prominently on Vine, which was launched last week.

The video appeared on Monday as an ‘editor’s pick’ and was tagged with #nsfwvine and #porn.

Twitter has now taken steps to block searches for sexually explicit material, and has blocked users guilty of posting graphic content.

A user found to be uploading such content, NSFWVine, appeared to have been blocked by the micro-blogging site earlier today.
