Three faces of Doctor Who mark stamp launch

THREE of the actors who have played Doctor Who - from left, Peter Davison (Doctor No 5), Tom Baker (No 4) and Paul McGann (No 8) - find themselves back at the Tardis for the launch of stamps marking the 50th anniversary of the BBC series.

The first–class stamps, which went on sale yesterday, feature each of the 11 actors who have played the Time Lord.

Royal Mail says interest was more than three times higher than any other issue where pre–registration was available. Andrew Hammond, of Royal Mail, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response from the public.”

Since being brought back to the screen in 2005, the Doctor has been played by Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith.
