Teachers' union set to take stand against BNP

BEING a member of the British National Party is inappropriate for a teacher, a union was expected to say today.

A resolution for debate at the National Union of Teachers' annual conference in Liverpool claimed the BNP poses a threat to community relations.

It called on the union to "reaffirm its belief" that being a member of an organisation like the BNP "is incompatible with the role of a teacher, or other member of a school staff in a democratic and multi-racial society".
