Spent ideas

I AM hopeful that London mayor Boris Johnson will succeed in his attempt to gain “devo-max” for his city (your report, 6 April). My one concern is that such an attempt may lead to Chancellor George Osborne advising foreigners against investing in London.

Mr Johnson, as well as casting envious eyes over our pandas, may be aware of inward investment brought to Scotland by our Scottish Government.

Following the apparent non-consummation of the pandas’ mission and the reality of the Scottish Tories and Labour failing in their duties just as publicly, Mr Johnson may have realised that the old parties with their old ideas are equally impotent.
