Prime Minister David Cameron will unveil a “one nation Queen’s Speech from a one nation government” to MPs with a pledge to deliver social reform and overhaul the prison system south of the Border.

But SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson said it doesn’t go far enough and pledged to bring forward a “credible, progressive alternative” Queen’s Speech.

“The party seeks long-overdue radical democratic reforms of parliament and the electoral system, and calls for a Home Rule Bill to provide the meaningful devolution to Scotland that current and former Westminster party leaders promised the Scottish people during the independence referendum,” he said.

A Fair Tax Bill to clamp down on tax avoidance and evasion is also proposed by the SNP and new energy legislation to support renewables.
