Shoppers set to splash out more

CONSUMER confidence is slowly improving, with more shoppers expecting to increase their spending, according to a survey.

Caution and a search for bargains are continuing to drive shopping behaviour, the PayPal report found.

However, 10 per cent of UK consumers planned to spend more over the next six months compared with 5 per cent at the same time last year.

Although the general mood was still cautious, young people were more likely to "treat themselves" than older generations and families.
