Shop staff toast a bonus increase

STAFF at retailers John Lewis and Waitrose are set for bonuses worth 15 per cent of their salaries today.

John Lewis Partnership, which is owned by its 84,700 employees, cut its staff bonus from 18 per cent to 14 per cent last year.

Now retail analyst Nick Bubb, predicting a 17 per cent hike in profits to £415 million, anticipates a “small increase”.
