Scotland is set to bask in spells of glorious weather this week, testing the nation's resolve as people are urged to adhere to avoid crowded spaces due to social distancing rules.

Thursday will be slightly cooler in the west, with highs of 16C (60.8F).

Inverness will enjoy plenty of sunshine today, with highs of 15C (59F).

The temperatures will reach 18C (64.4F) in Scotland's most northerly city on Wednesday, though the rest of the week will be largely cloudy despite the warmer weather.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Monday and Tuesday will be rather cloudy across Scotland with rain or drizzle at times, though some bright or sunny spells will develop for northern and eastern areas at times – temperatures around 15 to 18 Celsius for most.

After some early cloud on Wednesday, hazy sunshine will develop across much of Scotland and it’ll feel warm with temperatures around 19 to 22 Celsius.

"Thursday will be another warm day with sunny spells and the odd shower possible, before turning fresher and breezy on Friday."
