Queen misses church service

The Queen yesterday missed a church service in Crathie on Deeside because she was suffering with a sore back.

The service would have been the last she attended during her regular summer stay at the Balmoral estate on Royal Deeside.

Her Majesty is due to leave Scotland today and return to Buckingham Palace. Her spokesman said this was still expected to go ahead despite her injury.

A spokesman said the Queen continued with her scheduled events for the rest of yesterday including meeting various officials at Balmoral.

Queen Victoria worshipped at Crathie Kirk from 1848 and every British monarch since has worshipped here since.
