Poll boost for coalition pair

DAVID Cameron’s use of the veto in Europe last week has boosted his party’s ratings.

A ComRes poll revealed the Tories gained two points to go level with Labour, who lost two points, on 38 per cent.

Meanwhile the Lib Dems appear to have also been helped by their opposition to Mr Cameron’s actions also rising two points to 12 per cent. With the eurozone crisis dominating headlines there was also a resounding endorsement for the coalition’s austerity measures. Asked whether government should not increase public borrowing and should pay off the nation’s deficit as soon as possible, 74 per cent agreed and 18 per cent disagreed. Worryingly for Ed Miliband, 58 per cent of Labour voters endorsed this.
