Pippa Middleton, Boris Johnson in ping-pong clash

BORIS Johnson has accepted a challenge issued by Pippa Middleton to settle a growing ‘rivalry’ between the two famillies - over a game of table tennis.

Writing in The Spectator, Middleton laid down the gauntlet to the Mayor of London after noting his ambition to be “‘whiff-whaff’ world king”.

She also boasted of having played table-tennis at national level, albeit at Under-13s level.

“I’m informed that Boris Johnson... wants to be ‘whiff-whaff’ world king even more than he wants to be Prime Minister,” Middleton wrote.

“I’m also told the Johnsons are almost as competitive as the Middletons. So I’d like to lay down a challenge to the Mayor.”

Johnson took to Twitter to accept the challenge, saying: “I’m game if she is. Happy for Pippa to join me on a visit and see the benefits of our £22m Sports Legacy Fund in action.”

Pippa Middleton rose to fame after last year’s royal wedding, where she acted as bridesmaid to her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The socialiate wrote a book last year, Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities For Families and Friends, and has now signed up to be a food columnist for Waitrose magazine.
